To enhance public safety and ensure preparedness for emergency situations, True Corporation, in collaboration with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), will conduct a nationwide test of the emergency alert system (Cell Broadcast). The test will cover all three levels—minor, moderate, and major—via the True and dtac 5G network, the first in the country to have Cell Broadcast alert capabilities installed at every base station.

1. When, where, and how will the alert tests happen?
• Test 1: Friday, May 2, 2025, at 1:00 PM Level: Minor Locations: Provincial halls in Chiang Rai, Ubon Ratchathani, Suphan Buri, Songkhla, and Government Complex Chaeng Watthana (Buildings A & B), Bangkok (may affect nearby areas)
• Test 2: Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM Level: Moderate Locations: Mueang Districts in Lampang, Nakhon Sawan, Nakhon Ratchasima, Surat Thani, and Din Daeng District, Bangkok (may affect nearby areas)
• Test 3: Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM Level: Major Locations: Chiang Mai, Udon Thani, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Bangkok (may affect nearby areas)
2. What will the alert message say? Users will receive the following message on their phone screen, accompanied by a loud alert sound:
• In Thai: “ทดสอบแจ้งเตือนภัย Cell Broadcast จากกรมป้องกันและบรรเทาสาธารณภัย (ปภ.) โปรดอย่าตื่นตระหนก” (Translation: “This is a Cell Broadcast alert test from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). Please do not panic.”)
• In English: “This is test message from Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). No action required.”
3. Alert Format
• Loud alert tone will be played
• Pop-up message will appear on the smartphone screen in the test area
4. Who will receive the alert?
• Those who have their phone turned on and are connected to a 4G/5G network in the test area
• Phones running Android 11 or later, or iOS 18 or later
5. Who will not receive the alert?
• Users who have their phones turned off, in airplane mode, using Wi-Fi only, or connected to 2G/3G networks
• Phones that do not support the Cell Broadcast system
• Users outside the designated test areas
