Bangkok, January 20, 2026 – True Corporation Public Company Limited, in collaboration with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) and The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), announced the success of Thailand’s first-ever nationwide test of the “Cell Broadcast Service.” This achievement confirms the system’s robust capability to transmit emergency alerts to mobile devices covering all 76 provinces and Bangkok. Furthermore, the initiative elevates safety standards to a new level by integrating alerts directly onto television screens via TrueID TV boxes, ensuring comprehensive reach across all demographics. This milestone reflects the full potential of telecommunication technology in handling real-world emergencies to enhance the quality of life and safety for all Thais.
Mr. Teerapat Kutchamath, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) stated that “The result of this national Cell Broadcast Service test has impressively met all objectives. We successfully disseminated information to target areas with real-time precision. This marks the conclusion of our relentless commitment to continuous development, scaling up from building-level to district, provincial, and now national tests. Having already deployed the system effectively during real-world incidents, such as the floods in the Northern and Southern regions, border security situations, and PM 2.5 alerts, the DDPM is now fully prepared to utilize this technology for all forms of disaster and emergency warnings. Our ultimate goal is to minimize loss and instill confidence in the safety of both Thai citizens and tourists nationwide.

Mr. Chakkrit Urairat, Chief Regulatory and Government Relations Officer, True Corporation Plc., said that “The success of this test underscores the power of public-private synergy in integrating technology for public benefit. It represents a significant stride towards elevating Thailand’s warning systems to match international standards, particularly in an era where natural disasters are becoming more frequent and severe. Beyond being the first private operator to fully install CBS functions across every 4G and 5G base station nationwide, To ensure True and dtac customers receive timely, accurate, and reliable emergency alerts, even when their devices are in silent mode or the screen is locked, users simply need to update their operating systems to Android 11 or iOS 18 (or later). No additional application download is required. True Corporation has taken innovation a step further in this test. For the first time, emergency alerts, delivered through both text and audio announcements were enhanced to appear directly on television screens while customers were viewing content via TrueID TV boxes, significantly expanding access to critical information.

True Corporation stands ready to support the nation’s safety missions with full efficiency, confident that the Cell Broadcast Service will become a cornerstone of crisis communication, reducing loss and fostering a safe and sustainable society for Thailand.
