True Collaborates with NBTC to Strengthen Measures Against Call Center Scams, Expanding Inspections to Thai-Malaysian Border After Completing the Northern and Eastern Regions

17 February 2025

February 17, 2025 – True Corporation reaffirms its commitment to protecting the public from call center scams by partnering with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and security agencies. The company has recently expanded its efforts to inspect mobile base stations and international points of interconnection (POIs) at Sadao checkpoint in Songkhla province. Additionally, True is implementing measures to suspend telecommunications services in high-risk border areas. The company has also introduced “True CyberSafe” to safeguard customers by blocking fraudulent links.

Mr. Chakkrit Urairat, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of True Corporation Plc said that “the issue of call center scams requires cooperation from all sectors. True is fully committed to supporting the government, NBTC, and security agencies in blocking criminal networks, reducing harm to the public, and ensuring a secure telecommunications system for all. In compliance with the official directives, True and Dtac have already disconnected communication lines and suspended signal broadcast at designated border sites.”

True Corporation continues to support NBTC’s measures to prevent call center scam operations along the borders. In June last year, the company suspended signals and dismantled telecommunications equipment in seven provinces across 11 districts identified as high-risk areas. Most recently, True has further dismantled 10 additional base stations in Tak province and will continue to collaborate closely with relevant sectors. In light of the dismantlement, True’s team will conduct on-site signal quality assessments and community consultations. To maintain service quality, the company plans to install small-cell base stations as replacements.

Additionally, True has launched “True CyberSafe”, a service designed to protect True and Dtac customers from cyber threats. This service automatically blocks potentially fradulent links and URLs at no additional cost, ensuring safer online transactions for users.
